MACRA hosted a Validation Workshop on the Data Protection Regulations and proposed registration fees for Data Controllers and Data Processors of Significant Importance at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC).
This important workshop is platform where we are discussing stakeholder comments on the draft regulations as read with the Authority’s determination which has informed the revision of the draft regulations. The validation workshop is a step towards strengthening the data protection legal framework in Malawi.
The head of Data Protection Mr Daniel Chiwoni made presentation on the Data Protection (Registration) Regulations and the Data Protection (Complaints Handling) Regulations.
Present at the workshop were participants from various organizations responsible for processing and handling data of Malawians including mobile network operators and financial institutions.
