Chayamba Secondary school and Kamuzu Academy

Students from Chayamba Secondary school and Kamuzu Academy  have expressed gratitude for informative awareness sessions organised by #MACRA in partnership with local NGOs on the dangers and risks that go with digital communication services.

The sentiments were made as the Safer Internet Day (SID) 2024 outreach campaign in the central region reached Kasungu district targeting the two schools.Speaking on behalf of fellow students from Kamuzu Academy, one of the students said they never knew where to report cases of suspicious online behaviours, admitting that they have made a lot of friends through online platforms. While a student from Chayamba Secondary School indicated that the engagement was an eye-opener.

The campaign is part of a national wide joint endeavour by #MACRA and local NGOs to reach out to secondary school students with cyber space safety messages as part of this year’s commemoration of the SID, a global annual event that falls on the second Tuesday of February.SID 2024 was celebrated on the 6th of February under the theme: ‘Inspiring change? Making a difference, managing influence, and navigating change online’.
