The Malawi Computer Emergency Response Team (MWCERT) organised a Child Online Protection Trainer of Trainers workshop for the Central East Education Division at Mponela.
The workshop aimed to equip education officials with the knowledge and skills to promote the safety of children in the online space.
Speaking during the workshop, Deputy Director in the Ministry of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare, Mr Geoffrey Chimwala, commended MWCERT for organising the workshop.
“As a ministry, we are working closely with MACRA to enhance awareness, increase public understanding, encourage early reporting of cyberbullying, and strengthen collaboration among stakeholders,” said Chimwala.
Central East Education Division Manager, Mr Charles Muthothe, noted that the knowledge gained through the workshop will enhance child online protection in schools.
Head of MWCERT, Mr Christopher Banda, stressed the importance of a safe digital space for all, especially children and young people, who are among the most vulnerable groups.
“Child online protection is a shared responsibility. We all need to play our part to ensure a safe digital space,” Banda said.
Child Online Protection is one of the initiatives that MACRA is championing in collaboration with key stakeholders.
