Malawi CERT Hosts a Cyberdrill at University of Livingstonia

We have successfully wrapped up our cyber drills and awareness campaign at the University of Livingstonia in Rumphi. The event was a huge success, with students and staff gaining new knowledge on cyber security and data protection.

Addressing the university community, Head of Malawi Computer Emergency Response Team (MwCERT), Christopher Banda emphasized the need for introducing cyber security programs at the institution. He said that this will help bridge the knowledge gap and enhance the fight against cyber-related crimes. 

Daniel Chiwoni, Head of Data Protection Authority shared on the on protection of personal data, outlining legal provisions on dealing with personal data. The presentation invited a number of questions touching on protecting personal data in the digital age. 

The cyber drills were engaging, comprehensive, and impactful, with many participants expressing appreciation for the initiative. Dr. Wezzie Chiziwa, the University Deputy Principal, promised they will stay committed so as to ensure that the cyber awareness exercise bears positive fruits.
