The Malawi Computer Emergency Response Team (mwCERT) recently hosted students from the Malawi Defence Force Command and Staff College. The study tour was held under the theme “Cyber and Emerging Technologies in National Security and the Resilience of Critical Infrastructure as a Force Multiplier.”
Speaking on behalf of MACRA, Patrick Musiyapo, Acting Director of Telecommunications, highlighted the need for strong collaboration in building a cyber-secure Malawi.
The session provided an overview of the country’s cybersecurity landscape and showcased the role that MACRA and mwCERT play in protecting the digital space and critical information infrastructure.
Participants were taken through MACRA’s mandate, the work of mwCERT, and ongoing national cybersecurity efforts.
In his remarks, Colonel Joseph Mambo, Deputy Commandant of the MDF Command and Staff College, emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the MDF and MACRA through mwCERT, especially in knowledge sharing and capacity building.
