In the southern region the team visited Michesi and Phalombe Secondary Schools in Phalombe district. The team in the south comprises of Boniface Mandere from Article III and a cyber security specialist Exile Njoka.
During the sessions it was noted that children and young adults have access to digital communication services both at school through ICT lessons and at home, however, the biggest challenge is that the children have not been given the necessary tools to navigate the cyber space safely.
Management of both schools expressed gratitude to the #MACRA team for visiting their schools and tackling issues they are facing including the spread of fake news among the students which sometimes leads to cyber bullying.
The school outreach program serves as a basis to provide the children and young adults with the necessary digital skills to navigate the cyber space safely for maximum utilization of the positive opportunities digital technology offers.
