Safer internet day (SID) is celebrated in the month of February and this year’s global theme is “Together for a better Internet”.

This year the day was celebrated on Tuesday, February 7 and as a country, Malawi commemorated the day under the sub-theme “Inspiring Change? Making a difference, managing influence, and navigating change online”.

MACRA , in commemoration of the Safer Internet Day 2024, organized an advocacy and awareness outreach programme in selected secondary schools in Malawi with the aim of equipping and empowering learners with digital literacy and good cyber hygiene to mitigate risks and harm that is associated with internet use.

MACRA and Civil Society Organizations led by MACRA Deputy Director for Consumer Affairs Kelious Mlenga visited Mzimba Secondary School, Nkhata-Bay Secondary School and in Rumphi, Bandawe Girls and Phwezi Girls and Boys Secondary schools.
